Technical data and areas of application

PH13-8Mo | 1.4534
A martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel that is capable of high strength through different heat treatments and combines excellent strength, hardness, toughness and good corrosion resistance. The excellent properties are achieved though close control of chemical composition and microstructure to reduce impurities and minimise segregation. Applications in the aerospace sector include landing gear parts, shafts, pins, lock washers and various fittings and fasteners. Due to its strength and corrosion resistance it also finds application in motorsport components.

17-4PH | 1.4548
A martensitic precipitation hardening steel containing 17% Chrome and 4%Nickel. It is capable of attaining a wide range of strength and toughness properties depending on the precipitation or aging temperature used in hardening. Its combination of high strength, good corrosion resistance and toughness and ease of fabrication makes this grade a reliable choice, simplifying fabrication and often reducing costs. High strength is maintained to approximately 316°C. Applications in the aerospace sector include landing gear locking and retraction systems, shafts, pins, lock washers and various fittings and fasteners. Due to its strength and corrosion resistance it also finds application in motorsport components.

15-5PH | 1.4545
A martensitic precipitation hardening steel containing 15% Chrome and 5% Nickel. It is capable of attaining a wide range of strength and toughness properties depending on the precipitation or aging temperature used in hardening. Strength is comparable to 17-4PH but with increased toughness and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in the aerospace sector for landing gear locking and retraction systems in the main fitting, actuators, braces and lock pins.

These products are used in following areas of application:

  • Aerospace
  • Motor sports
  • Mechanical Engineering
