S+D METALS Sponsoring: Formula Student RUB Update

For years, S+D METALS has supported research and development projects for young talents regularly. This year, we supported the dedicated Formula Student Team of the Ruhr University Bochum through a material donation.

Formula Student is an international design competition for students in which teams design a formula racing car and construct a competitive prototype. The RUB team now successfully presented its Formula racing car at the Formula Student event in Hockenheim: "The Formula Student Event was a great success for us. We were able to pass the technical acceptance as well as the brake, noise and tilt test in the first attempt and placed 4th out of 21 regarding the business plan. We made a huge step from 2019 and were able to gain a lot of new experience that will help us to make our cars even better in the future."

Titanium components are decisive details in competition regarding every modern racing car. The reason for this is primarily the exceptionally low weight in combination with a high tensile strength of titanium. With simultaneous corrosion resistance, titanium is about 40% lighter than steel and thus enables an important weight saving.
